Unit 10..wait..what? YES REALLY! The final unit!

 1. Ratings:
     A. Physical Well-being: In the unit 3 exercise I gave myself an 8, I am going to now give myself a 9 because I have recently come to realize how much progress I have made towards my physical goals.

     B. Spiritual Well-being: I am going to keep this score the same as in unit 3, a 7. This class has helped me to realize more specifically what spirituality is and how to develop my spirituality but I am still just a beginner on this journey.

     C. Psychological: In unit 3 I have myself a 6, I am going to bump this up to a 7.5. I have obtained methods throughout this course that allow me to stay more calm and focused, but I still have a long way to go and lots to learn.

2. My physical goal was to be able to do a pull up at the gym with no assist; no I still cannot do a pull up. (darn lol) But, I can definitely tell that I am getting closer to reaching this goal.

My spiritual goal was to start reading the bible and yes I have actually begun reading the bible.

My psychological goal was to begin meditating and this is something that I am now implementing in my normal routine.

3. Physically I wanted to work harder at the gym and let me tell you, I have definitely stuck to this. I push myself hard at the gym every single day that I go and I can see and feel the progress that I am making

Spiritually I wanted to read one page of the bible each night before bed. I am going to be honest in saying that this hasn’t been happening consistently. I have been “too busy” but really that’s just an excuse. So, I do plan to start trying harder to read the one page before bed; it’s just one page!

Psychologically I wanted to meditate at least twice a week and I have been doing this. I cannot believe how much meditation has helped me to relax and stay calm instead of panicking; this was definitely helpful last week with all the homework that I had to do.

4. This course has helped me in ways that I didn’t even realize that I needed help. I knew that I had issues with anxiety but I had no idea that meditation was the answer to my problem. I have become “that person” and suggested to many members of my family to try meditation. They all have benefited from it in one way or another.
I found it difficult to realize that I had never even thought about integral health before this course. After learning about everything that we have, I just feel like “duh” why doesn’t every health and wellness professional implement these things in their own lives and suggest them for the lives of their patients? I feel like there are so many people that are on medication for anxiety and they could probably solve this issue by doing meditation. (I am not saying that this is a fix all for everyone, but for some people yes I do believe it would work.)

This experience will improve my ability to assist others because now I truly know how to assist myself. As we have discussed so many times in class, it is important to practice what you preach!

And since this is our last week together, please enjoy some photos of my crazy little family! Penny is the red/brown Chiweenie..Stanley is the grouchy looking Boston Terrier lol..Sparky is the white Chi/Jack Russel. Good luck in the future everyone!

  1. Kristen,

Thanks for the early post and wonderful family shots! You have come such a long ways and improved in most things or held your own. Your writings are always enlightening and I see the good person inside. Some people offer a shining light to the world and I feel you and few of my others classmates are those people! You and your hubby look very cute together and nothing like raising a few doggies to get the hang of taking care of others. Perhaps one day you’ll hear the pitter-patter of lil human feet…? Ok I’ll stop acting like a parent and wish you luck in the kid department for the future if that is something you two want. (My son and his wife are trying, they have put a nursery in their house and everything to fill it, I can’t wait!).

I’m impressed that you have taken the teachings to heart and the knowledge you’ve gained here can’t be taken away. It can be enhanced with more life experiences and I’m thinking you well have many future years of enhancement.

Do check out the HIIT training has I think this well enable you to do a few pull ups quicker than any other way I know. Having been a NSCA- Certified Personal Trainer since the year 2000 I speak from training hmm I’d say thousands of people.

They do put the bible on CD now and also have daily scriptures that can be sent to your email or even tested to your phone. That way you can reflect daily with out having to dig around finding a bible versus.

Now you’re finally cooking with Crisco with your score up grade to 7.5 in psychological well-being. I suspected that you were better in this area than you started at and I’m guessing this course has given you lifetime tools to utilize.

Best of luck in your future endeavors and thanks for your kind responses to my posts and for the energy and enlightenment that radiate from your writing and I’d guess from you.

    1. Hello Kristen,

First I just want you to know I really think as a younger adult you are definitely on the right track. The tools that this course has given us some people will never know some people never have heard of integral health. In my day we used holistic care, which meant mind, body, and soul. So I'm not sure if they are the same type of healthcare or there are some differences. Either way I think that you and your "crazy little family" look great and with the techniques that we have learned will feel great too. By the way I loved all the photos and you named all of your little babies but no name for your man? Don't worry the babies alway come before the men. LOL You have a very lovely family!! Good luck in all that you do.

  3. I loved your blog. (And the puppy pictures.) You and I sound very similar. My goals were mainly focused at the gym and to control my anxiety. It sounds like you have been able to stick to your goals, which is phenomenal. I like what you said about not realizing you needed improvement. I, too deal with anxiety and I always knew that I needed to control my panic attacks, but, when you are in that moment, it is hard to rely on various techniques. This class reminded me what to do and how to control them, which I am grateful for. Panic attacks can be quite scary. This class has really helped me to re-focus.

You have encouraged me with you being positive and honest. It's very rare that you come across a young person that has a impact your life. It doe not matter your age you can always help someone. Please continue to be you and never change. Best of luck and blessings.

  5. Kristen,

I believe what you are experiencing is very similar to my experiences with integral health. It seems like the world should catch on to what we have learned. I am sure everything with your other goals will fall in place. Good luck to you. Continue your practices and have faith.
